Oh, how we love to worry. I can spend countless hours mulling over things that could go wrong in my life, and not because anything is close to happening, but just for the sake of worrying. You know, worrying about what happens if what I set out to do ends in failure. Worrying about losing someone or something in my life. Worrying that I am a failure. Am I a failure?

Don’t be discouraged when failure happens. Be determined! Be ready for anything that comes your way. Stop looking backwards at what used to be, and embrace what is. Learn to do something a bit differently if it’s needed. Be adaptable. And not just in certain situations. Be adaptable in everything you do.

Learn to let go. Be less critical of yourself and of others. It may take more tries to accomplish what you’ve set out to do, and you may not reach the goal anytime soon, but you’ll get there. And, of course, don’t set expectations that can’t be met. I haven’t set a personal goal of running a 5K because I’m sure that isn’t going to happen for me. I do, however, have a goal to continue to write and share. It feels impossible sometimes, but I have promised myself to take it slow. This isn’t going to happen at a pace I am familiar with (ugh!). I have to be understanding of where I am at and what is possible right now.

Remember who you are. Remember what you believe in and what you feel. Not before, but right now. Situations change us, life changes us and our relationships. Be proud of your current abilities, even if they are a far cry from where they used to be. Be proud of who you are.

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Vivian Greene

Revel in life’s small victories. Try something new. Dance in the rain. Don’t close yourself off to new possibilities. Don’t wait for the all clear before you live.
